Cops were sickened when they found mother in bed with son, but what they found next was worse.

While responding to a call to check on the safety of a woman and her young son, police made a startling discovery.

When police entered the house, they found Sommer Leann Hyatt and her 10-year-old son laying in a bed together. They also noticed two opened medicine bottles labeled Alprazolam, aka Xanax, and Sertraline on a nightstand near the bed.

Police described Hyatt as “lethargic,” having “slow speech responses” and being “pale in color.”

Police had stumbled upon a murder/suicide attempt in the nick of time.

Hyatt and son were rushed to separate hospitals where they were treated. According to reports, Hyatt reportedly said she intended to kill her son and take her own life.

The child was released from Arkansas Children’s Hospital and is recuperating.

The boy’s father filed a motion for an emergency order of protection and change of custody regarding his son.

Hyatt, however, was arrested when she was released from hospital. Her charges include attempted murder and endangering the welfare of a minor. She was booked in the Saline County Detention Center and later released on a $100,000 bond.
