Passersby stop and stare in horror and traffic comes to a standstill as the insects descend.
Several witnesses attempt to film the horror sight on mobile phones.
At one point, a plucky onlooker decides to walk up to the terrifying nest of insects but immediately regrets it and backs off.
When the owner returns to his bike he is horrified by what he is faced with.
“The absolute hands on his head shock of the bike owner is hilarious,” one unsympathetic viewer commented on the clip online.
Another said: “Maybe it was a theft prevention technique, is this the only way to stop your bike from being stolen?”
