A CNN analyst and former staffer for President Obama, and current staffer for former Vice President Joe Biden, has likened President Donald Trump’s CPAC speech to Hitler.
She also likened the Americans who support him, what she calls his base, to the Nazis who supported Hitler.
CNN analyst Sam Vinograd, a member of former President Obama’s national security council, made the statement after the president’s speech.

“His statement makes me sick, on a personal level,” Vinograd, who is of Jewish descent, said.
“Preserving your heritage, reclaiming our heritage, that sounds a lot like a certain leader that killed members of my family and about six million other Jews in the 1940s,” she said.
“But our national security level, the president talks about preserving our heritage as a catch-all for implementing policies that misallocate resources,” she said.
“He pretends there are massive flows of illegal immigrants coming over our borders and is spending billions of dollars on a border wall emergency,” Vinograd said.
Are Democrats hypocrites?
“Instead of paying attention to real national security threats. He sounds a lot like despotic leaders that have talked about white heritage and white nationalism around the world and is putting resources in the wrong place, and pretending that there are foreign people trying to influence our country in a way that just isn’t accurate,” she said.
She said that President Trump’s CPAC speech “speaks to his base,” and accused him of working for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“By the way, this whole CPAC speech, how many pieces, parts of President Putin’s to-do list was President Trump trying to accomplish today?” she said.
“[Trump] denigrated our institution, the Department of Justice and U.S. Congress,” she said.
“He spread misinformation and conspiracy theories, he undermined the credibility of several of our institutions, he sewed divisions, he sewed confusion, he was speaking to his base, but he was also saying things that really looked like Vladimir Putin scripted his speech,” she said.
“So it helped him perhaps with his base, and politically, while at the same time, making Russia’s job a lot easier,” she said.
The part of the speech that appeared to make her angry was when President Trump was talking about American values and the Democrats, not people of a particular nationality or religion, who threaten them.
“The men and women here today are on the front lines of protecting America’s interests,” he said.
“Defending America’s values, and reclaiming our nation’s priceless heritage. With your help, we are reversing decades of blunders and betrayals,” he said.
“These are serious, serious betrayals to our nation and to everything we stand for. It’s been done by the failed ruling class that enriched foreign countries at our expense,” President Trump said.
“It wasn’t America first, in many cases it was America last. Those days are over, long over,” he said.
Vinograd is a Biden Institute Senior Advisor but she did not comment on the statement made by former Vice President Joe Biden in which he said near the same thing.
“It’s time to fight back! It’s time to reclaim our heritage!” the former vice president said in 2011.
Sam, a Senior Advisor at the Biden Institute, says “‘preserving our heritage, reclaiming our heritage,’ that sounds a lot like” Hitler.
