Tom Perez, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, released a statement today saying the DNC will not permit Fox News to host any presidential primary debates.
The DNC alleges deep ties between Fox News and the Trump administration. This is of course laughable given the near incestuous relationship the Obama administration had with the mainstream media.
Perez said he was willing to consider allowing the network to host a debate but changed his mind after the story in the New Yorker which claims to have exposed the relationship between Fox and Trump’s inner circle, The Hill reports:
“Recent reporting in The New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and FOX News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates. Therefore, FOX News will not serve as a media partner for the 2020 Democratic primary debates,” Perez said in the statement.
Of course what this really means is the Democrats are scared a Fox News moderator might ask one of their preferred candidates a hard question, or one they don’t want answered on live television.
As you might expect leftists applauded:
Boom! DNC Chair says Fox can’t sponsor 2020 Dem Primary Debate:

Are Democrats wrong to exclude Fox News?
Tom Perez and the DNC made the right call not giving a debate to Fox News given its symbiosis of stupid with the White House. Fox isn’t news, it’s the GOP’s fearmongering machine and state propaganda outlet. Recent reporting proves it can’t be trusted to treat 2020 Dems fairly.

anyone who thinks the DNC’s decision here is anything but a rational and prudent response to an extraordinarily robust factual record that Fox is a propaganda outlet has either been asleep for the past 10 years, or is so blind that I worry about them walking into walls https://t.co/gaBTsC3eom

Everyone else was not as excited:
And the RNC should ban CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc. all of the #FakeNews media outlets RT @EricBoehlert: the DNC made the right call today in banning Fox News from hosting any Dem debates.
as I noted yesterday, i doubt Dem candidates would’ve showed up; https://t.co/JQTAWzqUQJ

Exactly right. Both parties can play this game I suppose of only allowing preferred media access to people and events. Seems sad and counterproductive though.
Fox is number 1 in ratings and they’re being excluded? DNC Denial

This reflects poorly on the DNC & their biases, but not on Fox News. I always value the professional fairness in which you and Martha cover US elections.
