The walls are starting to close in on actor Jussie Smollett after his arrest for lying to police about being attacked.

The show he starred on, “Empire,” issued a statement on Friday saying that it had removed Smollett’s character Jamal Lyon from the season’s final two episodes, Yahoo News reported.

“The events of the past few weeks have been incredibly emotional for all of us. Jussie has been an important member of our EMPIRE family for the past five years and we care about him deeply,” the statement read.

“While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out,” it said.

“We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of ‘Jamal’ from the final two episodes of the season,” it said.

The news comes the day after several black politicians and celebrities came to the defense of Smollett.

California Democrat and notorious race baiter Rep. Maxine Waters is not prepared to condemn Jussie Smollett.

“I don’t think we can, at this point, make sense of it,” she told Variety on Thursday at Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards.

“There are still some questions that we have, some answers that have to be given,” the representative said.

“He’s a friend. He was at my office. We marched in the Pride Parade together, he introduced me at ‘Black Girls Rock,’ and so, I believed him, when I heard about it,” she said.

“I still don’t know all of the details. I’m waiting for the final results of all of this,” Waters said.

“If in fact it’s a hoax, of course, I would be disappointed, but I’m just hopeful, that whatever goes on, and if he finds that he’s in trouble, that his life will be changed, then he has to re-do it all over again,” she said.

Imagine if this was a white man that made fake accusations against two random black men in order to get a better payday.

Imagine the outrage from people like Rep. Waters and those like her who would be demanding justice.

Waters now needs time to find all of the facts but she did not need any time to run to his defense.

“Jussie is my friend – a very talented & beautiful human being. It is so hurtful that homophobic haters would dare hurt someone so loving and giving,” she said after Smollett said he was attacked.

“I’m dedicated to finding the culprits and bringing them to justice. Jussie did not deserve to be harmed by anyone!” she said.

Good news Rep. Maxine Waters. They found the culprit and they are bringing him to justice.

Waters was not the only person on Thursday to give Smollett the benefit of the doubt after the Chicago police told the nation the evidence against him.

“I don’t trust what the media is saying,” Meagan Good, who stars in “Think Like a Man,” said.

“I don’t know if I believe what the media is saying. The person that I know Jussie to be is not that person. That’s where I stand,” she said.

I consider him a friend. I love him and regardless of if it’s true or not, I’m still going to be here for him, I’m not throwing them away. I hate the situation but I don’t hate the person.” reality star and singer Kandi Burruss said.

“I love Jussie. Let me tell you something, for the past 29 years I’ve been producing the longest consecutive running musical AIDS benefit in the country, Divas Simply Singing. One year, it almost didn’t happen. Jussie Smollett wrote the $10,000 check that put me over the line to have that show,” actress and singer Sheryl Lee Ralph said at the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards.

“This is a difficult time for him but at his core, he is a good human being, who has made a bad choice, poor choice, and I don’t know who helped him make that poor choice but I’m not going to drag him. I’m not going to give up on him. I’m still going to love him because I remember the good he did for me,” she said.
