MSNBC Panel Goes Off The Rails Insinuates Trump Backs White Terrorist

We knew this was coming, but that doesn’t make it any less despicable.

As TFP covered last night, Coast Guard Lieutenant Christopher Paul Hasson is currently facing charges related to what federal prosecutors say was a desire to “murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country,” as part of his fantasy about “establish[ing] a white homeland.”

Police found 15 guns and at least a thousand rounds of ammo at his home, as well as a hit list of Democrat politicians and journalists. His writings were chock-full of madness about an “interesting idea” for “biological attacks followed by attack on food supply,” self-identification as a “skinhead,” his belief in the power of “a little focused violence” to “change minds,” and more.

This guy is clearly a monster and/or a lunatic, not part of any meaningful or remotely-mainstream American political movement. But that isn’t stopping malicious leftists and #NeverTrumpers from trying to tie him to the current president and the Right.

One of the most egregious examples yet took place, unsurprisingly, on MSNBC:

The Washington Free Beacon has more:

“Deadline: White House” host Nicolle Wallace said it gave her no pleasure to see Trump fail the leadership test on this issue. She castigated him for tweeting about things like the Jussie Smollett case—she said the actor accused of perpetrating a hate crime hoax did something “inane”—and ignoring Hasson.

NBC News reporter Heidi Przybyla said the Justice Department had buried the news of the arrest, and NBC News reporter Carol Lee noted Trump didn’t thank law enforcement for its efforts in apprehending Hasson.

Former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said his “glass was no longer half full,” saying he wasn’t surprised a self-proclaimed nationalist like Trump would fail to speak out against a white nationalist.

“These are his people,” Steele said. “He’s not going to thank law enforcement, because he’s probably not happy about what law enforcement did.”

Naturally, Wallace called Steele “brave” for blatantly defaming Trump. The fact that this man used to lead the GOP explains an awful lot about how “respectable” Republicans became so reviled and mistrusted that voters turned to a man like Donald Trump in the first place.

Another notoriously dim-witted #NeverTrumper joined the dog-pile on Twitter:

For the record, Trump has already condemned Hasson, but I guess it doesn’t count because he didn’t agree to be tarred with a would-be terrorist in the process.

As for the fact that Trump has talked about Jussie Smollett more, there’s a simple reason for that: because the mainstream media and numerous national, elected Democrats promoted his lie and made it a national issue. This is not complicated.

The segment is getting some richly-deserved scorn on social media:

But don’t take our word for it. Take it from National Review’s Kevin Williamson of all people, whose hatred of Trump was unmatched pretty much anywhere except the Weekly Standard (RIP):

Hasson is locked up on drug and weapons charges and is being treated as a “domestic terrorist.” A whole raft of additional charges is almost certainly on the way. He is done. Prosecutors — including federal ones appointed by Donald Trump — are going to bury that guy.

What do the progressives want the authorities to do? Build a prison cell inside his prison cell and another one inside of that to create a turducken of felonious intent? Execute him without trial? Parade him through the streets? […]

Unlike in the matter of Jussie Smollett, you aren’t going to see a lot of serious-minded chin-strokers on cable-news shows saying, “Well, I don’t approve of the crime, of course, but you have to admit that Hasson had a point.” Because nobody believes that with the exception of a few fruity sandwich-boarders and atavistic cellar-dwellers whose presence is almost statistically inevitable in a nation of 320 million people.

Enough said.
