Among the many newsworthy items that emerged from yesterday’s Michael Cohen hearing, the most talked about episode had to do with Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s racist attack on Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C.
Here’s what happened, in case you’ve been living under a rock.
As we reported yesterday:
Minnesota Rep. Rashia Tlaib accused Rep. Mark Meadows of being a racist by bringing one of the top black members of President Donald trump’s administration to the hearing.
Meadows took great exception and began to shout but Tlaib continued to aggressively shout over him.
It got so brutal that Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings defended Rep. Meadows who he knows for a long time.
It was an insane exchange in a day of insane testimony and it is a video you need to watch.
Here’s VIDEO of the exchange in which Tlaib calls Trump associate Lynne Patton “a prop”:

Now, Ms. Patton is firing back at the congresswoman’s vile insinuation.
I am honored to be the special guest of @RepMarkMeadows today. I am here in support of @POTUS and in support of the truth, as Michael Cohen (knows that I know) it to be. And the truth is that it doesn’t take you 15 years to call someone a racist. Unless they’re not one. pic.twitter.com/jPxeYTbTYT

Patton said on Instagram: “Today a race card was played. But not by Congressman Mark Meadows. But rather by those on the House Oversight Committee who sadly placed more credence on the word of a self-confessed convicted perjurer, than that of a highly-educated black woman who rose up the ranks of one of the most recognized global real-estate companies in the world, spoke before 25 million people at the Republican National Convention and now successfully oversees the largest HUD program office in the country.
“That is not the resume of a prop,” she added.
From Fox News:
“I was not there to represent an entire race of people. I was there to represent one man,” Patton told “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, touting Trump’s economic record and what those gains have meant for black Americans.
Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., had invited Patton, a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) official who is black, as a guest at the House Oversight Committee hearing, to counter former Trump attorney Cohen’s claim that Trump was a “racist.”
“She says that as a daughter of a man born in Birmingham, Alabama, that there is no way that she would work for an individual who was racist,” Meadows told Cohen.
Later in the hearing, freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., seemed to accuse Meadows of using a black woman “as a prop.”
Meadows blasted Tlaib’s charge. “My nieces and nephews are people of color. Not many people know that,” he said. “And, to indicate that I asked someone who is a personal friend of the Trump family, who has worked for him, who knows this particular individual, that she’s coming in to be a prop? It’s racist to suggest that I ask her to come in here for that reason.” …
Chicks on the Right has more:
AS I mentioned yesterday, Rep. Rashida Tlaib raised some eyebrows for suggesting Conservative black women couldn’t POSSIBLY think for themselves.
Senior HUD official Lynne Patton attended the Michael Cohen hearings. She previously worked at the Trump administration and has known Cohen for a decade.
Rashida Tlaib just couldn’t HANDLE this… so she revealed how much of a RACIST she truly is…
I’m sorry… but you know what’s ACTUALLY racist? Assuming Lynne isn’t there OUT OF HER OWN FREE WILL.
How DARE Rashida? How is it that this “feminist woman of color” doesn’t think OTHER “women of color” think for themselves? Is this not the very definition of both racism and misogyny? The two things her party PRETENDS to fight against? …
