It was revealed that Roger Stone is close to being pinned for treason as Special Counsel Robert Mueller has obtained proof that Stone conspired with Russian government hackers and WikiLeaks during the 2016 election.
While that was certainly bad news for Donald Trump’s inner circle at the time, as the weekend progressed, it only got worse as we learned that White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders could be in more trouble than Stone.
According to CNN, Robert Mueller’s team has now interviewed Sanders and pointedly asked her about statements she made from the podium with regard to Donald Trump and his Russia scandal.
“The President urged me, like he has everyone in the administration, to fully cooperate with the special counsel. I was happy to voluntarily sit down with them,” Sanders said in response to a question from CNN. The interview is one of the final known interviews by Mueller’s team of people who worked in the White House. It was conducted late last year, around the same time as the special counsel interviewed then-White House chief of staff John Kelly, well after a number of other senior officials, including former White House communications director Hope Hicks and former press secretary Sean Spicer, were brought in for questioning.
As far as the Mueller probe is concerned, this is significant news as it suggests the Special Counsel may be attempting to pin felony conspiracy on Sanders due, in large part, to her loyalty to Trump. If you don’t buy into this, then I strongly suggest you go back and review some of Sanders’ press briefings. Her loyalty to Trump is certainly rivaled by few, if any. She has continuously gone above and beyond in defending him, even if that has meant feeding constant lies into the podium microphone.
Felony conspiracy aside, the lies in and of themselves are alarming enough, as they could result in perjury somewhere down the line…especially if she has participated in an interview in cooperation with the Trump-Russia probe.
If that’s the case, then let’s hope for Sanders’ sake that a plea deal is in order. If one is, she would be wise to take it. If she doesn’t, and continues to serve as a mouthpiece in defense of Donald Trump, then she could be destined for criminal charges and jail time.
