One of the best things about Marvel films are Stan Lee’s cheeky cameos.

He might only appear for a couple of seconds, but no Marvel movie is complete without him.
But it’s sad that considering the 95-year-old died late last year, those cameos will be a thing of the past.

However, the people behind the upcoming Captain Marvel movie have come up with a solution.

The film’s directors, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck spoke with the Metro at the London premiere about the touching tribute.

Boden said: “I don’t want to say anything I’m not supposed to say, but just that it was…we did want to kind of have a moment and tribute to Stan Lee in this movie, obviously.

“It was something that came from Marvel and when they showed it to us, there was not a dry eye in the house. It was really emotional.”
There was another small tribute to Lee in Once Upon a Deadpool, the PG-13 version of Deadpool 2.

While Deadpool 2 didn’t feature Lee in the flesh, his face did make an appearance in the form of graffiti on the side of a building during the X-Force sequence.

In a neat touch, for Once Upon a Deadpool the artwork now includes an ‘RIP’ next to Lee.

But that’s not even the half of it…just wait until you get to the post-credits sequence.

For the final scene, the filmmakers included hilarious outtakes from Lee’s cameo in the Deadpool 2 teaser video shown before Logan, along with – wait for it – an interview clip in which Lee chats about how humbled he was by all the success he had, and how he didn’t care about what happened after his death.

Lee didn’t actually have any input with Deadpool, but he did have a cameo in the first film – cropping up as a DJ in a strip club, no less.

The upcoming Avengers: Endgame film will also have a Stan Lee cameo, which was filmed before his death.

Co-director Joe Russo told BBC Scotland: “He doesn’t love to fly, so typically we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time.

“So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance Ant-Man 2 or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day.”
